Dean FM had known he was different at a young age. He dressed, spoke, and thought in a different way than his contemporaries. Soon, he learned that this way of thought is not easy for a young adopted person of color growing up in a caucasian community in the outskirts of Boston, MA.
Dean didn’t meet a group of people who expressed his thoughts until he was in his early twenties. While he ultimately found a community to thrive in, the word “genderqueer” was not coined until the 1990s.
“Not only was I one of the only people of color in my school, I was the only out person in my grade, and the only boy wearing makeup,” said Dean FM.
In transcending cynicism and practicing self-love, Dean FM continues creating music in support of the LGBTQ community. He is a vocal advocate for mental health awareness and those struggling with addiction.
Featured on Kiss FM, WHTL 95.2 FM, Phoenix 98FM, WNDO 109.9 FM, PulseRadio 96.1 FM, and seen in African Hype, Daily Music Roll, and NerveDJs.com, DeanFM is available for interviews and performances.
